About Me
I graduated from Boston University in 1995 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Women's Studies. I then went on to graduate school at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, earning a MA (1998) and PsyD (2000) in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology. Chicago offered a variety of training opportunities: I spent a year training in community mental health assessment in Chicago's Westside, as well another year in clinical training in a partial hospitalization program at The University of Chicago. I completed my internship in the Health Psychology tract at the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Originally from South Carolina, I was eager to get back to the Southeast, family and warmer weather. I began my career at UNC Chapel Hill's Counseling Center and then worked for years in private practice in Chapel Hill and Durham, North Carolina. During my time in North Carolina, I was able to conduct numerous outreach programs in stress management with universities in the area, as well as lead body image workshops at Duke Diet and Fitness Center. Throughout my experience, I have seen the integral connection between our emotional and physical health, furthering my belief that sometimes we improve one of these areas by focusing on the other.

I am currently licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina, so I work with clients that live in either state. In addition I have my E. Passport license to practice telepsychology in participating PSYPACT states (psypact.org). I have found that teleheath is a wonderfully accessible way for people to receive therapeutic services. It removes transportation barriers, eliminates commute time and many individuals find they prefer it. With twenty years of clinical experience in a wide variety of settings, I am able to apply my experience and expertise to deliver psychological services through various modalities.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, exercise and traveling. As the parent of five kids, I have continued to learn the importance of self care and the never ending goal of balance!
