My Approach
I work from a cognitive behavioral (CBT) perspective to help clients identify areas they want to change or improve. Everyone has strengths and I believe in identifying strengths to make changes. CBT is effective for numerous issues and puts the power to change in the client's hands. It is amazing to see someone realize how even thoughts and beliefs that seem so automatic can be restructured and challenged to improve mood and well being. In addition sometimes we have to act (behavioral) our way into thinking differently. For example, when we feel really down and depressed, waiting to feel better or think differently does not often work. Yet, when we make behavioral changes we slowly begin to think differently and thus, mood improves.

While traditionally therapy has occurred face to face, telepsychology has been emerging as an equally effective way of delivering mental health services. According to the American Psychological Association, telepsychology is "the provision of behavioral and/or mental health care services using technological modalities in lieu of, or in addition to, traditional face-to-face methods (e.g., provision of therapy using the phone, diagnostic interviewing via videoteleconferencing, use of applications to track mood states, consultations via email)". https://www.apa.org/pi/disability/resources/publications/telepsychology
